This Pride season, the Los Angeles LGBT Center is proud to launch “Love Lives Here”—a campaign celebrating the power of chosen family and belonging, as well as the Center’s nearly 60-year history of providing shelter, housing, and other life-saving care for the LGBTQ+ community.
Founded in 1969, the Los Angeles LGBT Center has its roots in the first Liberation House, a small home in Hollywood offering LGBTQ+ people a place to sleep for one dollar a night. What began as a single refuge for the community has evolved into the world’s largest direct-service LGBTQ+ organization, serving hundreds of thousands of people each year through healthcare, housing, advocacy, cultural programs, and more.

In a moment when so many face uncertainty, “Love Lives Here” is both a rallying cry and a promise. “At a time when LGBTQ+ people feel targeted, isolated, or uncertain about what the future holds, the Los Angeles LGBT Center is centering this Pride season on love, belonging and chosen family,” said Joe Hollendoner, CEO. “As we show up at Pride events across Los Angeles, we’re also reaffirming our commitment to providing the care our community relies on every day.”
