Los Angeles LGBT Center Congratulates
CA Governor-elect Xavier Becerra

In response to the California gubernatorial election, the Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Joe Hollendoner issued the following statement congratulating Governor-elect Xavier Becerra and underscoring the importance of protecting immigrant and LGBTQ+ Californians:

“The Los Angeles LGBT Center congratulates Xavier Becerra on his election as California’s first elected Latino governor. At a time when LGBTQ+ communities—particularly transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex (TGI) people—and immigrants face unprecedented attacks on their rights, safety, and access to essential services by the Trump administration, California must continue to lead with courage and conviction. Protecting and expanding access to safe, affirming housing and quality, affordable healthcare cannot be negotiable, especially for trans youth and adults. We look forward to working with Governor-elect Becerra to continue his history of advocating for the communities served by the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The Golden State must continue to be a beacon of progress and offer the nation an alternative to the cruelty sowed by Trump.”
