This year has tested us beyond measure—from the wildfires that displaced our neighbors, to the inauguration of a president whose day-one executive orders set off a relentless assault on LGBTQ+ communities, to the rising militarization of our streets that has placed immigrants under constant threat. Through it all, we have endured the unthinkable.
While 2025 has been more difficult than I could have anticipated, what has sustained my hope and resolve is witnessing—day after day at the Los Angeles LGBT Center—how our community shows up for one another in moments of crisis. That shared courage and care is the thread that binds the story of this year.
As we approach the holiday season, I’m proud to share the newest edition of our annual zine: Liberation Forever. This issue reflects the heart of who we are as a community—resilient and tethered to one another through every challenge and triumph. This issue highlights the truth that grounds our work: Our collective liberation depends on us caring for each other and ensuring no one gets left behind.
In this zine, you’ll read about youth who’ve found stability and affirmation, seniors rediscovering connections, community coming together after the wildfires, and advocates fighting boldly for the rights we all deserve. These stories remind us that liberation isn’t an abstract ideal—it’s something the Center is advancing every day.
For over 55 years, the Center has been a steadfast home for LGBTQ+ people across our great city and a beacon for advocacy across the country. That legacy belongs to all of us—clients, staff, volunteers, partners, and community members like you who help ensure we remain ready for whatever comes next.
And while 2026 will undoubtedly bring new challenges for our movement, I remain certain that as long as we fight together for a future where every LGBTQ+ person can live fully and without fear, our progress toward liberation cannot be halted. Our goal will always be liberation—forever.
