The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Queerceañera Returns Oct. 3: Celebrating Latine Heritage with Viral Sensation Lushious Massacr
The annual celebration is an inclusive spin on the traditional quinceañera and spotlights LA’s LGBTQ+ Latine community
LOS ANGELES, September 10, 2025 — On Friday, October 3, the Los Angeles LGBT Center will host the third annual Queerceañera—Queerce, for short— its signature celebration of queer Latine culture. This year’s event honors Lushious Massacr, Mexican-American drag artist and social media sensation, and Oliver Alpuche, nightlife tastemaker and community leader behind Redline, KISO, and DTLA Proud.
This year, Queerce is themed Mariposa Sin Fronteras (Butterflies Without Borders), uplifting the tremendous work of the Center’s Legal Services, the event will center stories of migration, fortitude, and the transformative power of queer and trans joy. Like the monarch butterfly, whose wings carry it across impossible distances, Queerce honors the Latine community’s unyielding struggle for safe passage, freedom, and boundless love.
“Queerceañera is one of the most vibrant reflections of our great city,” said Joe Hollendoner, CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. “It uplifts the queer Latine experience by reclaiming space and celebrating the strength that comes from the community’s stories, joy, and refusal to be confined by the limits placed on self-expression.”
“The Center’s Queerceañera is about shining unapologetically, and that’s what I live for,” said honoree Lushious Massacr. “As a Mexican-American drag artist, I carry the legacy of my culture and the courage of our queer ancestors every time I step on stage. To be honored in a space that uplifts our community and our joy is beyond powerful—I’m grateful to celebrate mi gente.”
“Community is at the heart of everything I do—whether building DTLA Proud, opening KISO, or just holding space for queer and trans people in Los Angeles,” said honoree and DTLA Proud Founder, Oliver Alpuche. “Queerceañera reminds us that our strength is collective, we thrive when we stand boldly in our heritage and queerness. I’m honored to be recognized among other visionary leaders.”
This year will spotlight the honorees, alongside high-energy queer DJ sets by Bella Spreads, a special gallery installation by photographer and artist Yulissa Mendoza, community resource tabling, and delicious food and beverage vendors representing the diaspora, featuring tacos, empanadas, aguas frescas, mezcalitas, and more.
Admission is free with RSVP at lalgbtcenter.org/queerce. Each RSVP includes two complimentary topshelf drink tickets, with additional tickets available for purchase. Food vouchers will also be available onsite, ensuring guests can enjoy the full culinary experience.
Presented by Wella Company, Queerceañera is also made possible by Official Sponsors Casamigos, Gilead Sciences, Waymo, Andy Ortiz, and Peter Nielsen.
