The Transgender Economic Empowerment Project

If you’re seeking economic and social support, the Los Angeles LGBT Center can help. Our Transgender Economic Empowerment Project (TEEP) offers a wide range of services to help trans, gender diverse, and intersex (TGI) people reach economic stability. We offer job readiness and career development services, and we can connect you with inclusive employers for a fruitful and accepting career that allows you to show up as your authentic self. Additionally, we train organizations on how to be more gender inclusive and consult on procedures and forms for maximum inclusivity.

The Economic Empowerment of Trans People Means Catering to the Whole Person.

This Isn't Just a Job Search

TEEP offers connection to Legal Services for community members who have faced discrimination in employment, or for assistance in obtaining a legal name and gender marker changes, or even criminal record expungement.

We're Here for Community-Based Support

We rely on the Center's vast expertise in case management to connect you with the right referrals to affirming, culturally responsive resources—including job placement services or housing. We also offer social support through individual sessions, and group support through a social work lens.

We Give You Skills That Last

Whether it's assistance with applications for educational opportunities and social services, financial literacy workshops, job trainings, or more—TEEP will be a launching pad for your biggest, brightest dreams.

And We're Working Towards Systemic Change

To further systemic change at institutions that have the greatest impact on our clients, we provide training and ongoing technical assistance to a limited number of social service agencies, government institutions, and businesses.  These workshops provide the necessary tools to create a safer and more inclusive environment, including necessary discussion to provide more understanding of the TGI community and how to promote equity in the workplace. This includes general best practices in accordance with evolving laws, lessons on appropriate terminology, how to create a harassment-free environment, and connection to our job and resource fairs for more interaction with the community.
