Statement: Los Angeles LGBT Center Slams President Trump’s Lawless Federal Funding Freeze
LOS ANGELES, CA, January 28, 2025– Following President Trump’s recent executive order freezing all federal funding of government contracts, Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Joe Hollendoner issued the following statement:
President Trump’s recent executive order to freeze all federal funding of government contracts is not only illegal, but incredibly harmful to our social safety net and overall economy.
The president’s action has the potential to severely derail the Center’s ability to provide life-saving healthcare, housing, and other social services, since our organization received substantial federal funding. We call on the president and Congress to take swift action to reverse this unlawful action and reinstate funding so that we can sustain vital care and services for the LGBTQ+ community.
Regardless of the President’s unlawful acts, the Los Angeles LGBT Center will continue to provide uninterrupted care and services to those who depend on us. We will not be intimidated by this descent into fascism—now or ever.
We call on our community members to join us in resisting this executive order by visiting our website to take action today. And, if you can, please make a financial donation to the Center to help offset the disruption in federal reimbursement that we will experience starting tonight.
