The Center Launches Weekly Rallies Starting June 26 to Demand CHLA Restore Gender-Affirming Care

The Los Angeles LGBT Center, in partnership with Lambda Legal, Gender Justice LA, FLUX, the TransLatin@ Coalition, is leading weekly rallies outside Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to demand the hospital reverse its decision to permanently close its gender clinic on July 22

LOCATION: Children’s Hospital Los Angeles  | 4650 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027

TIME: 6–8PM *Speaker program begins weekly at 6:30PM

DATES: Thursdays, starting June 26, 2025

UPCOMING DATES: July 3, July 10, July 17

SPEAKING PROGRAM FOR JUNE 26, 2025:

Speakers will include:

  • Sage Sol Pitchenik (they/them): A 16-year-old junior at North Hollywood High and trans patient at CHLA
  • Scottie Madden (she/her): Director of Advocacy at FLUX and the Connie Norman Empowerment Center
  • Ace Anaya (they/them): Campaign Coordinator at Gender Justice LA
  • Maria Do (any/all): Community Mobilization Manager at the LA LGBT Center
  • Jack (they/them): Registered Nurse
  • Maebe A. Girl aka Maebe Pudlo (they/she): Silver Lake Neighborhood Councilperson and CA Senate Candidate for District 26

The closure would eliminate critical, gender-affirming care for over 2,000 young patients, stripping access to life-saving services from trans, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-expansive youth and families.

Earlier this year, CHLA complied with Donald Trump’s unlawful executive order to ban gender-affirming care for youth under 19. After public outcry, including thousands of emails and a large protest, the hospital temporarily reinstated hormone therapy. Now, with this final decision to shut down the clinic entirely, the fight is far from over.

Join us every Thursday evening through July 17 to make your voice heard. Each rally will feature community leaders, elected officials, advocates, and families directly impacted by this devastating rollback in care.

We will not be silent while access to affirming, essential healthcare is stripped away. Follow the Center on Instagram @lalgbtcenter to stay informed with real-time updates.
