Los Angeles LGBT Center Announces Return of Its AANHPI Month ‘Golden Hour’ Celebration Honoring Mayumi Market

The Center’s annual AANHPI Heritage Month event returns May 2 with a vibrant night market, performances, and immersive cultural experiences.

Presented by PS

LOS ANGELES, April 2, 2026The Los Angeles LGBT Center will host the return of Golden Hour: The Queer AANHPI Night Market—the Center’s annual celebration honoring Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month—on Saturday, May 2, 6–10 p.m. at The Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood.

Now in its third year, Golden Hour has become a local favorite, drawing more than 1,500 attendees since its inception. The event returns with a vibrant night market, performances, and immersive cultural experiences—and is free and open to all, with RSVP available at lalgbtcenter.org/GoldenHour.

This year, the Center will honor Mayumi “Kat” Fox, founder of Mayumi Market, with the Blooming Impact Award, recognizing her ongoing leadership in uplifting AANHPI small businesses and creatives, and her ongoing impact in the community. In collaboration with the Center, Mayumi Market transforms the Center’s Hollywood campus into Golden Hour’s signature night market experience, spotlighting queer and trans AANHPI vendors, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

“It’s an honor to receive the Blooming Impact Award in recognition of my work with Mayumi Market—founded to amplify AANHPI visionaries, storytellers, creators and small businesses,” said honoree Mayumi “Kat” Fox, founder of Mayumi Market. “Golden Hour holds space for our communities to be seen and supported while building a marketplace that is expansive, inclusive, and unapologetically queer. Our ongoing partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center has been a powerful way to lean into that intention.”

Golden Hour is the Center’s annual community celebration honoring the intersection of queer identity and AANHPI heritage. Inspired by the Chinese zodiac and the Year of the Fire Horse, the 2026 event will center themes of courage, transformation, and bold self-expression—qualities found across queer AANHPI communities.

Last year’s honoree Lara Raj of the global girl group KATSEYE, received the Blooming Impact Award further cementing Golden Hour as a platform recognizing AANHPI talent shaping culture.

“The Center’s Golden Hour is a testament to the brilliance and creativity of LA’s uniquely diverse AANHPI communities,” said Giovanna Fischer, Chief Equity Officer of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. “This cultural celebration is about more than heritage and tradition; it’s about belonging, self-determination, and our ability to shape the future on our own terms.”

“At PS, diversity, community, and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do, especially as we bring our team and members together from around the world,” said Jason Chung, People & Culture Specialist at PS. “We are proud to support the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Golden Hour event uplifting AANHPI voices and stories rooted in celebration, connection, and belonging.”

Curated by and for queer AANHPI communities, Golden Hour expands its footprint into a vibrant community-centered marketplace. Guests can expect:

  • Queer AANHPI food and retail vendors
  • Free mahjong tutorials
  • Custom portrait experience
  • Live performances curated by Andre Lawes Menchavez of Queer LiberAsian

Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks. Golden Hour is a free event and open to all ages with RSVP at lalgbtcenter.org/GoldenHour
