In The Kitchen Cookbook - Los Angeles LGBT Center

In The Kitchen Cookbook

Recipes from the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s youth clients. Inspired by Center Dietary Coordinator Arlita Miller with foreword by Center board member and celebrity Chef Susan Feniger.
Forty percent of homeless youth in Los Angeles are LGBTQ, and the Center is here to help with their transition from the streets to independent living.

Youth in the Center’s Transitional Living Program (TLP) learn about food budgeting, proper nutrition, food handling and safety, and, of course, cooking. The Center’s Dietary Coordinator, Arlita Miller, not only works to fit in food that expose youth to meals beyond what you might expect at a typical homeless shelter–but teaches them how to make these meals once they have transitioned to independent living.
Now, get a taste of their stories–and their recipes!
