LGBTQ+ Training and Coaching Intensive - Los Angeles LGBT Center

“[I wanted to participate in RISE because] I need people that are really supportive, you know, they look past my sexuality, they look at, you know who I am individually, and that's what I wanted. I wanted somebody who looks, you know, past, what my sexuality is, or you know, anything else with me. They just see who I really am.”
–RISE youth participant quote

“The staff from RISE took the time necessary to make sure I understood all the training materials well. They are always gracious when I have questions and they are patient with their answers. I was really nervous when preparing for my first training but RISE was there to build up my confidence and remind me why this work is so important and essential for the health and wellbeing of so many youth that we serve. One of the staff even came out and partnered with me for my first full day training so that I wouldn’t have to be alone. RISE has made me a better social worker and it has made my agency a better service provider. I’m very grateful for their support and leadership.”

- Erica Ariza, MSW

“Participating in the RISE Train the Trainers program was such an amazing yet challenging experience.  I got the opportunity to take a deep dive into curriculum specially developed to increase my competency and skills around supporting LGBTQ clients, and providing safe and respectful environments for all.  Completing this course has given me the foundational knowledge needed to effectively train the staff at my agency, with the larger goal of supporting LGBTQ clients, and continuing to remove barriers to permanency through education and awareness.”
