Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries Presents "Identity & Desire": A Group Art Exhibit and Film Screenings Curated by James Galloway

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries announce the opening of a major group exhibit Identity & Desire curated by James Galloway. The exhibit will be on display at The Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood from Thursday, December 6, 2018 through Saturday, January 19, 2019. The exhibit opens with a free reception and film screening on Thursday, December 6, from 6:30 – 9 p.m.

What exactly is queer art in the digital age? A series of artists create intimate works that ponder their identities in this wired world. Join us for this multi-media exploration featuring 16 cutting-edge artists: Hayat Hyatt, Benjamin Rosenthal, Hilary Harp & Suzie Silver, Beth Stephens & Annie Sprinkle, Justin Dale Olerud, Shaun Johnson, Paul Pescador, Kyle Kupres, Patrick Donovan, Eliane Lima, Jennifer Moon, Adam Novak, Ken Gun Min, and Kang Seung Lee.

The exhibit’s opening reception will be preceded by a screening of five short films examining identities and desires though comedy, documentary, animation, and abstraction in the Center’s Renberg Theatre. Films include:

The Advocate & Gochis Galleries are open Monday thru Friday from 6 - 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
