LOS ANGELES - Veteran AIDS/LifeCycle rider and the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s representative on Capitol Hill, U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank), will participate in a community forum hosted by the Center on Monday, November 9, from 7 – 8 p.m. at the Center’s Renberg Theatre. Immediately following the forum, the Center will host a reception with drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the courtyard of The Village at Ed Gould Plaza.

Center CEO Lorri L. Jean will moderate the forum, which will include questions from the audience and from Jean regarding legislation of particular interest to LGBT people—including the Equality Act and the Center-supported bill to regulate residential treatment programs—the current climate in Congress, expectations for next year’s elections, and more.

“Congressman Schiff is not only one of our greatest champions in D.C.,” said Center CEO Lorri L. Jean, “he’s one of the most influential Democrats on Capitol Hill. We’re proud to host him—and the community—for a free-ranging discussion at this forum.”

Congressmen Schiff represents California’s 28th district, which stretches from West Hollywood to the eastern border of Pasadena, and from Echo Park to the Foothills and Los Angeles National Forest. Schiff currently serves as the Ranking Member, or top Democrat, of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and as a Member of the Benghazi Select Committee. Schiff is currently on a leave of absence from the House Appropriations Committee. He is a Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus in Congress.
